Medziphema, July 17: The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) on Thursday organised a peaceful rally at Jharnapani (New Medziphema) to protest the alleged non-acknowledgement of traditional landowners and what it described as the Nagaland Government’s inadequate response to the ongoing Maova Village land issue.

The rally commenced with a brief programme at the Peren-NU Medziphema Campus road junction before participants marched to the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Medziphema. A memorandum highlighting the organisation’s concerns was subsequently submitted to the Government.

According to the CPO, the rally was organised to reaffirm the organisation’s commitment to protecting the ancestral rights of traditional landowners and to express its stand on the Maova Village issue.

The organisation also appealed to tribal bodies and citizens to support the peaceful movement in safeguarding ancestral land rights.
