Dimapur, July 9: The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) has clarified that empanelled hospitals under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) are not permitted to collect additional charges from beneficiaries, except in cases specifically allowed under the Scheme Guidelines.
The clarification comes in response to a grievance filed by a CMHIS beneficiary who was billed more than ₹5.15 lakh during a prolonged admission in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), while only ₹1.64 lakh was settled under the scheme.
According to NHPS, the matter has been taken up with the concerned hospital. The Society has also reminded all empanelled hospitals that NICU care, medicines, consultations, and other approved services are covered under the CMHIS package provisions.
NHPS reiterated that eligible beneficiaries are entitled to cashless treatment, and hospitals must not demand additional payments except for non-payable items or voluntary upgrades permitted under the scheme guidelines.
Beneficiaries requiring assistance or wishing to register grievances can contact the NHPS toll-free helpline at 1800-202-3380 through both phone calls and WhatsApp.
