Chümoukedima, July 12: The Gorkha Students’ Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a Gorkha student, reportedly committed on July 7 by an individual identified as Pauminlun Gangte of Ward No. 9, Medziphema Town. In a press statement issued on Saturday, the union described the incident as a grave violation of human dignity and fundamental rights. Expressing solidarity with the survivor and her family, GSUCD assured them of its unwavering support in their pursuit of justice. The union urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation, and called for strict legal action against the accused if found guilty through due process.

GSUCD also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading rumours or misinformation that could hamper the investigation or further traumatize the survivor. It further urged everyone to respect the survivor’s privacy and dignity.Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of students, the union stated that it would continue to monitor the progress of the case and extend all possible support until justice is served. It concluded by asserting, “Justice delayed is justice denied,” while demanding a thorough investigation, accountability, and justice in accordance with the law.
