DG Assam Rifles Pays Tribute to Havildar Mohd Iqbal Killed in Nagaland Blast

July 13: Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, on Monday paid solemn tribute to Havildar Mohd Iqbal, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty following a suspected IED blast at Khopanala near Shukhovi in Chümoukedima district.

In a statement, the Director General, along with all ranks of the Assam Rifles, expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and honoured the fallen soldier’s sacrifice.”Director General Assam Rifles and All Ranks of Assam Rifles pay solemn tribute to Hav Mohd Iqbal, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Nagaland today, and offer deep condolences to the family of our brave soldier. DG Assam Rifles and All Ranks of Assam Rifles stand firmly with the bereaved family,” the statement said.Havildar Mohd Iqbal lost his life in the suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast, while four other Assam Rifles personnel sustained injuries. According to initial reports, the explosion is believed to have originated from an auto-rickshaw. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
