Wyandotte, Michigan | October 22, 2025:
In a twist straight out of the digital age, a 45-year-old woman from Michigan has won ₹88 lakh ($100,000) in the Powerball lottery — after letting ChatGPT choose her lucky numbers.
Tammy Carvey, a resident of Wyandotte, decided to test her luck using artificial intelligence ahead of the record-breaking $1.787 billion Powerball jackpot held in September. Instead of picking random digits herself, she simply asked ChatGPT, “Give me a set of Powerball numbers.”
To her astonishment, those AI-generated numbers matched four white balls and the red Powerball, earning her an initial prize of $50,000 — which was doubled to $100,000 because she had selected the Power Play option.
“I just wanted to have fun with it. I never expected to win anything, let alone $100,000! When I checked the results, I was in shock. My husband thought I was joking,” Carvey told the Michigan Lottery officials.
How ChatGPT Picked the Numbers
Carvey used ChatGPT to generate a random set of numbers, which the AI provided without any predictive logic. “I didn’t tweak or change anything. I played them exactly as ChatGPT suggested,” she said.
The winning numbers for that draw were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and Powerball 17 — a combination that turned her ordinary day into an unforgettable one.
Michigan Lottery Reacts
A Michigan Lottery spokesperson confirmed the win, adding that while the story is exciting, it’s purely a game of chance. “It’s a fun coincidence that AI helped pick the numbers, but lottery draws are completely random. There’s no technology that can predict or guarantee a win,” the official said.
Experts Weigh In
Tech experts have called Carvey’s win a fascinating example of how artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life — even in areas ruled entirely by luck.
“AI can generate random sequences, but it has no insight into lottery outcomes,” explained a technology columnist for TechRadar. “Still, it’s interesting to see how people are blending technology and superstition in the digital age.”
“AI Made Me Lucky”
Carvey plans to use her winnings to pay off her home loan and save the rest for her children’s education. “I’ve always believed luck finds you when you least expect it. Maybe this time, ChatGPT was just my lucky charm,” she smiled.
A Word of Caution
While Carvey’s win has gone viral on social media, experts remind users that AI tools like ChatGPT cannot predict lottery results. The win is a stroke of chance — not a formula for success.
Tammy Carvey’s story blends technology, luck, and human curiosity — showing that in today’s AI-driven world, even chance can wear a digital face.
AI may not make you a millionaire… but sometimes, it just might make you lucky.
