Dimapur | August 22, 2025 – The 9th Annual Freshers’ Program of MGM College was celebrated with enthusiasm, cultural vibrancy, and youthful energy, marking a memorable welcome for the new entrants into the college community.
The formal session was hosted by Mr. Paul Munda and Miss Rose Debbarma, and was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mrs. D. Ledia Awomi, President of the Ethnic Group of Nagaland. Adding glamour to the occasion, Miss Alo A. Yepthomi, Miss Sumi 2024 Second Runner-up, attended as Guest Judge, while guest artists Ms. Keren, Ms. Wobeni, and solo performer Mr. Obed brought liveliness to the celebration.
The program began with an invocation by Ms. Ahikali I. Jakha, Assistant Professor, Department of English, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Mughapu Swu, President of MGMSC. A soulful performance by Inavitoli Swu uplifted the atmosphere, and Fr. Giju George, Administrator of MGM College, shared an inspiring speech emphasizing unity and belonging among students.
A highlight of the day was the Introductory Round, where freshers confidently showcased their talents and personalities. Representing the new students, Mr. Epikhao expressed gratitude and optimism about their academic journey at MGM. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Awomi, in her keynote address, shared valuable experiences and encouraged students to pursue excellence with determination.
The informal session, anchored by Mr. Hamlei Konyak and Miss Lipeka Chishi, brought an atmosphere of joy through cultural displays, artistic performances, and entertaining contests. The Freshers’ Contest added thrill with its formal and questioning rounds, testing creativity, confidence, and wit.
