Lumami | October 23, 2025 — In a significant step toward advancing scientific research in the state, Nagaland University has inaugurated a Cancer Research Laboratory at its Lumami campus. The facility was formally inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Professor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, marking a major milestone in the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen medical and life science research.

Speaking at the event, Professor Patnaik emphasized the importance of research and innovation in higher education and urged both faculty members and students to strive for excellence through dedicated research and academic publication.

The newly established laboratory is expected to play a pivotal role in cancer research and diagnostics, addressing the growing health burden of the disease in the Northeast region
