Wokha, August 6, 2025: In a call for unity and inclusive governance, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe urged elected councillors to rise above party affiliations and personal interests for the greater good of the public. He made the remarks while inaugurating the WTC Daily Market at Wokha Bazar earlier today.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Humtsoe emphasized the importance of mutual respect, collective responsibility, and cooperation among councillors regardless of political background. He noted that public service must remain the top priority, and encouraged members to work together to address the needs of the people.
Highlighting the importance of gender equity, the MLA called on the council to empower women and ensure equal representation within its leadership and decision-making structures.
Mr. Humtsoe also pointed to pressing civic issues such as poor drainage systems and sanitation, urging the local council to take proactive steps in maintaining cleanliness across the town. He further recommended forming special committees to explore government schemes and identify opportunities for economic growth and infrastructure development.
The inauguration of the WTC Daily Market marks a significant step toward local economic empowerment, and Mr. Humtsoe expressed hope that the facility would boost livelihoods for vendors and enhance the town’s marketplace dynamics.
