BVFCL Signs 5-Year B2B Agreement with Bhutan’s National Seed Centre for Fertilizer Supply

Fostering food security and strengthening India-Bhutan agricultural ties

Siliguri, August 18, 2025: Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL), a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has entered into a five-year Business-to-Business (B2B) agreement with the National Seed Centre (NSC), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Royal Government of Bhutan, for the export of fertilizers.

Under this agreement, BVFCL will supply key fertilizers including Urea, Suphala (NPK), SSP, MOP, and Borax to Bhutan. The initiative is aimed at ensuring timely access to essential agricultural inputs, thereby supporting Bhutan’s food security and enhancing agricultural productivity.

The signing ceremony took place on August 18 at Siliguri in the presence of dignitaries from both countries. The event commenced with the traditional Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp, symbolizing knowledge, auspicious beginnings, and shared prosperity.

From the Royal Government of Bhutan, the event was graced by Shri Yonten Gyamtsho, Director, Department of Agriculture; Shri Deepak Rai, Program Director, National Seed Centre; and Shri Sonam, Senior Store Manager, NSC.

Representing BVFCL were Shri Satyajit Mishra, General Manager (Marketing); Shri Chandragupta Kakati and Shri Sunil Kumar Tripathi, Senior Managers; Miss Romi Chakravorty, Deputy Manager; and Shri Devendra Singh Rajawat, Assistant Manager.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Satyajit Mishra, General Manager (Marketing), BVFCL, said:
“This agreement is a reflection of BVFCL’s commitment to regional cooperation and agricultural development. We are honoured to partner with Bhutan in ensuring farmers get timely access to quality fertilizers, which will further strengthen agricultural productivity in the region.”

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in India-Bhutan bilateral ties, particularly in the agriculture and allied sectors. It is expected to further enhance cross-border cooperation in fertilizer supply, contributing to the shared goal of sustainable food security.
