New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has strongly criticized Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, accusing them of using students as “political tools” to create disruption during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
In a statement, Pradhan alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress chose to stage a protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence, describing the move as an attempt to create a political spectacle and causing inconvenience to the public while disregarding established security protocols.
The Union Minister said the government had conveyed its readiness to hold a comprehensive discussion on issues concerning students, but alleged that the Congress preferred political confrontation over parliamentary debate.
“Even after the Government conveyed its readiness for a comprehensive discussion, the Congress chose political spectacle over democratic debate,” Pradhan said.
Pradhan further alleged that the Congress’s actions were not aimed at finding solutions to students’ concerns but at creating political headlines. He maintained that the government remains committed to discussing issues such as NEET and addressing genuine concerns raised by the country’s youth on the floor of Parliament.
“Our Government remains 100% committed to discussing NEET and addressing every genuine concern of our youth on the floor of the House,” he said.
The Education Minister also emphasized that students should not be treated as instruments of political campaigns, arguing that young people deserve certainty, solutions and accountability rather than political disruption.
The remarks come amid a political confrontation between the government and the Opposition over student-related issues and the handling of protests. The Congress and Rahul Gandhi have continued to raise concerns and demand accountability, while the government has maintained that it is prepared to discuss genuine issues in Parliament.
Pradhan concluded by asserting that the government’s focus remains on providing students with answers, reforms and accountability.
