Dimapur, July 10: MGM College organised a Faculty Development Workshop on “Academic Writing and AI Tools in Research” on Friday at the college auditorium, aimed at enhancing the research capabilities of its faculty members and promoting the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academia.
The workshop was attended by all faculty members, including Principal Dr. R.K. Behera and Administrator Fr. Shaiju Philip. The programme featured two technical sessions designed to strengthen academic writing skills and research practices.The first session, titled “Writing Research Articles for Publication,” was conducted by Dr. Sangeeta Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Education. She explained the key components of writing high-quality research papers, publication ethics, manuscript preparation, selecting suitable journals, and strategies for publishing in reputed peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals.The second session, “Academic Writing and AI Tools in Research,” was led by Mr. Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of English. He demonstrated the effective and ethical use of AI tools in academic research, highlighting responsible AI practices, literature review techniques, citation management, research productivity, and the importance of maintaining academic integrity.Both sessions were interactive and concluded with engaging question-and-answer discussions, allowing faculty members to clarify their queries and share their research experiences.Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. R.K. Behera encouraged faculty members to develop a strong research culture by publishing regularly in quality journals while responsibly embracing emerging AI technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and research. He emphasised that continuous professional development is essential for academic excellence and institutional growth.The workshop concluded with a closing prayer led by the Principal, followed by a vote of thanks.
