Boston, USA | July 10, 2026: France secured their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Morocco 2–0 in the tournament’s first quarter-final on Thursday.
The match remained deadlocked at 0–0 after an evenly contested first half. France, however, took control after the break as Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 60th minute. Just six minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead, putting the result beyond Morocco’s reach.
The victory sends France into the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium.
Mbappé also achieved a historic personal milestone, becoming the first player to score 20 FIFA World Cup goals before the age of 30, further cementing his place among the tournament’s greatest performers.
France will now look to continue their title challenge as they move one step closer to another World Cup final.
