Medziphema, October 22, 2025: The Alumni Association of the School of Agricultural Sciences (AASAS), Nagaland University, marked its 25th Anniversary — Silver Jubilee — with a grand celebration at the Multi-Purpose Hall, SAS, NU, Medziphema Campus. Held on Monday, 20th October 2025, the event brought together alumni from various batches, faculty members, and dignitaries to commemorate 25 years of growth, contribution, and unity.
The Special Guest for the event was Mr. Mhathung Yanthan, Hon’ble MLA and Advisor, Agriculture, Government of Nagaland. The Chief Host was Mr. Metsubo Jamir (1st Batch), Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, and the Honored Host was Mr. A. Pangjung Jamir (5th Batch), Hon’ble MLA and Advisor, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
The celebration began with the unveiling of the Silver Jubilee Monolith by Mr. Yanthan, followed by the Alumni Flag Hoisting by Mr. A. Pangjung Jamir. Prof. L. Daiho, Former Dean, NU, SAS, led the invocation prayer, while Mr. K. Neibou Sekhose, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and 1st President of AASAS, delivered the welcome address, reflecting on the association’s journey. The Alumni Choir, directed by Dr. Imliakum Ao (29th Batch) and Dr. Chubatemsu Ozukum (27th Batch), performed a nostalgic welcome song, followed by senior alumni sharing their memories in a “Reminiscence” session.
Prof. Akali Sema, Secretary of the Organizing Committee and 1st General Secretary of AASAS, presented on the “Journey of AASAS,” highlighting milestones and achievements. Distinguished alumni were felicitated, and Academic Excellence Awards were presented by Prof. L. Tongpang Longkumer (5th Batch), President of the Alumni Association.
Chief Host Mr. Metsubo Jamir, Honored Host Mr. Marthon Sangma, and Prof. Dipak Sinha, Pro-Vice Chancellor, NU, SAS, addressed the gathering. A special performance by the EU Choir was followed by the release of the Silver Jubilee Souvenir.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Mhathung Yanthan described the Silver Jubilee as a celebration of excellence, dedication, and transformation — 25 years of nurturing minds, shaping futures, and advancing agriculture in Nagaland. He lauded the alumni for their contributions to agricultural and rural development, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and the importance of making agriculture a respected and rewarding profession.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Hoto Yeptho, Organizing Committee Member (1st Batch) and 1st Advisor of AASAS. Dr. Moakala Changkiri (29th Batch), Scientist, AICRP on Vegetable Crops, compered the session.
The afternoon featured a technical session chaired by Prof. Pauline Alila (5th Batch), Dean, NU, SAS, followed by the General Body Meeting of AASAS presided over by Prof. L. Tongpang Longkumer, reviewing the association’s activities and future plans.
The day concluded with a vibrant cultural programme coordinated by Dr. Watilmongla Jamir (9th Batch), showcasing performances by alumni and students.

Alumni Award for Academic Excellence (B.Sc. Hons. Ag. 2021–2025): Miss Nivedita Kumari (9.08 OGPA), Rs. 20,000.
Peri Om Pun Excellence Award (B.Sc. Hons. Ag. 1st Year 2024–25): Miss Neisinuo Shine Kiso (8.36 OGPA), Rs. 10,000.
R2 Seeds Excellence Award (B.Sc. Hons. Ag. 2nd Year 2024–25): Miss Wapangnaro S. Imsong (8.56 OGPA), Rs. 10,000.
Lt. Cherish Ch. Marak Excellence Award (B.Sc. Hons. Ag. 3rd Year 2024–25): Miss Aysha Parween (8.58 OGPA), Rs. 10,000.
