Kohima | October 16, 2025 The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) comprising CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA has announced the extension of the ongoing pen-down strike beyond the initial three-day period, in protest against what it calls the subversion of meritocracy in the non-SCS IAS induction process.

In a circular issued on Wednesday, the JCC stated that after thorough deliberations and in view of the prevailing circumstances, the committee has decided to extend the Pen-down Strike from October 17, 2025, until further notice.

The decision follows widespread discontent among government employees and service associations, who allege irregularities in the selection of officers for IAS induction under the non-State Civil Service (non-SCS) quota.

While extending the strike, the JCC also acknowledged the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) for prioritizing the welfare of students. Responding to ANSTA’s request, the JCC has exempted teachers and educational institutions from the purview of the ongoing strike.

The committee expressed gratitude to all organizations and individuals supporting the cause, describing the agitation as a movement to preserve fairness, transparency, and meritocracy within the state’s administrative system.
