9th August 2025: The Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has announced that it, along with its Apex tribal bodies and frontal organisations, will abstain from all government functions — including the upcoming Independence Day celebrations — in protest against the composition of the newly formed Reservation Review Commission.
The decision was taken during a joint meeting held in Kohima today, attended by CoRRP members and representatives of five major Apex Tribal bodies: Ao, Angami, Lotha, Sumi, and Rengma.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, CoRRP Convenor Tesinlo Semy acknowledged the state government’s move to set up the Reservation Review Commission, following a Cabinet decision on August 6. However, he expressed strong dissatisfaction with the inclusion of civil society organisations (CSOs) in the Commission, calling it “unacceptable.”
Semy stated that until their concerns are addressed, CoRRP and the associated tribal bodies will not participate in any official events organised by the government.
