In a decisive move to address the rising concerns over illegal immigration, the Kuda Village Council (KVC) in Dimapur held a special meeting on July 30, 2025, and unanimously passed a series of resolutions aimed at protecting the socio-demographic fabric of the region. The meeting, held at 4:00 PM, thoroughly discussed the long-term implications of the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants (IBIs) on Naga society.
The council pledged full support to the public and government efforts to eradicate the growing menace of illegal migration. In line with this commitment, the council resolved to establish a Village Census Board to conduct an internal census within the jurisdiction of Kuda Village. This initiative will be spearheaded by the Kuda Youth Club, under the leadership of President Rüüzhalie Nagi, in collaboration with Khel Youth Presidents and representatives from all Khels.
The newly formed Census Board will be supported by a Team of Advisors, consisting of prominent citizens including:
- Mr. L. Kire, IFS (Retd.), former Commissioner & Secretary, Nagaland
- Mr. K. Nakhro, Advocate
- Mr. Zhasa Vüpüri, Senior Advocate
- Mr. V. Peseyie and Mr. Seyiesezo Peseyie from NPS
Ex-officio members include:
Mr. Savi Liegsie (Advisor, KVC), Mr. Thepfuko Nagi (Head GB of Khels A, B & C), Mr. Neinguise Nagi (Chairman, A-Khel), Mr. Ketusilie Sakhire (Chairman, B-Khel), and Mr. DK Nagi (Chairman, C-Khel).
Key Resolutions Passed:
- Mandatory Verification: All new arrivals or tenants settling in the village since July 23, 2025, must obtain a verification certificate from the respective Khel Chairman.
- Public Vigilance: Citizens are urged to stay alert and report the movement of unfamiliar individuals to KVC officials or Khel Chairmen.
- Cooperation Encouraged: Full cooperation from residents is requested to ensure the success of the internal census.
- Strict Action on Violations: Individuals found harboring strangers or recent evictees without verification will face strict action by the KVC.
The resolutions mark a proactive step by the Kuda Village Council in safeguarding the identity and security of its community amidst growing demographic challenges.
