31st July, 2025 – Dimapur: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has sounded the alarm over what it calls an “insidious threat” posed by the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants into Nagaland. The party highlighted that districts bordering Assam—namely Peren, Dimapur, Niuland, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, and Mon—have been especially impacted. According to the NPF, the growing presence of illegal immigrants, particularly from Bangladesh, is altering the demographic makeup of the state at an alarming rate. The party emphasized that this development poses a direct threat to the rights, land, and identity of the indigenous Naga people.Calling for urgent action, the NPF demanded the strict enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system across all districts and the strengthening of border control mechanisms. The party stressed that this issue should not be politicized or viewed through communal or religious lenses, but rather as a matter of survival for the Naga people. Reaffirming its commitment to protect the political and cultural future of Nagaland, the NPF appealed to civil society, political parties, and the general public to unite and act decisively to address what it described as a growing menace.
